I think there is a place called Salem Inn which is pretty cheap. Towns in the area like Peabody, Danvers or Gloucester might be cheaper than Salem at Halloween time, don’t be afraid to check those out either- both are about 5 minutes away!

There is a cheap hotel called the Lafayette Hotel in Downtown Salem near everything (Tel = 978-745-5503. Location = 116 Lafayette Street, Salem, MA 01970). It looks OK from the outside; however the place is on the edge of a seedy section (bums hang out outside). A great bar called Stegas is next door. If you want a cheap room - and 1-2 blocks walking to everything Halloween - check it out! It is not listed on most of the Hotel Guides and on-line booking sites.

Good luck finding accomodation in Salem at Halloween! The place is usually booked solid. Maybe rent an SUV and sleep in it?
